Reader Reviews
This book is about a heart wrenching situation. A father and daughter and family that was willing to go the extra mile to bring justice. It will make you laugh, cry, and get angry. There is vindication at the end of the book, but it will never pay for what was taken away from the family and especially Derrick’s daughter.

The barriers of disclosure always overlap, with legal and advocacy sources recording significant overlaps in which […]
3 Pillars & Principles Of A Trauma Informed Approach
A trauma informed approach should be considered as a culture rather than script. It is one way of perceiving others and making services in such a way that the survivors do not become victims of the very services that are intended to support them. The environment may be a school, clinic, workplace, campus event, or […]
What To Say, And What Not To Say, To A Victim Of Sexual Assault?
First response matters! But WHY? The initial few minutes of a disclosure can determine whether a person would approach help again. Complementary words revive a feeling of control; insensitive remarks can intensify shame or silence. Trauma-informed communication is based on the assumption of believing the survivor and a measure of letting him or her dictate […]
